After the students finish their lunch period (around 12:45), students' families are invited to come and share the remaining food.

EDUCATION NIGHT

Please join us on Tuesday, November 17th from 7:00-9:00pm for a special presentation by Maria Klein, "Giving Your Child Wings."
This presentation will address five ways you can encourage your child to grow wings, so they will be ready to take flight as adults. These are:
  • Helping your child confront challenges
  • Encouraging your child to take responsibility for mistakes and to fix them
  • Enabling your child to do what they are capable of
  • Seeing your child pursue their own talents
  • Supporting your child to make decisions with confidence
Maria Klein is a licensed marriage and family therapist. She is committed to helping families work together through difficult times. We hope you will attend this special presentation.

LOST AND FOUND
Our lost and found bags are overflowing with shirts, jackets, lunchboxes and backpacks. Please remember to check the bags located near the restrooms. Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity. Please write your child's name on their backpacks, lunch boxes and on the labels of their jackets, so that items can be returned if they are lost and then found.

Twenty Minutes A Day
By Richard Peck

Read to your children
Twenty minutes a day;
You have the time,
And so do they.

Read while the laundry is in the machine.
Read while the dinner cooks.
Tuck a child in the crook of your arm, And reach for the library books.

Hide the remote,
Let the computer games cool,
For one day your children will be off to school.
"Remedial?" "Gifted?" You have the choice.
Let them hear their first tales
In the sound of your voice.

Read in the morning,
Read over noon,
Read by the light of Goodnight Moon.

Turn the pages together, Sitting close as you'll fit, Till a small voice beside you says, "Hey, don't quit."

MESSAGES FOR STUDENTS
Please make sure all information between you and your child is taken care of before school. The school office cannot call into your child's classroom to give a message during school hours If needed, a message will be sent to the teacher; however, there is no guarantee that the teacher will check their messages until the end of the school day.

H1N1 GUIDELINES
The Santa Clara County Public Health Department guidance recommends that, based on current flu conditions, students and staff with flu-like illness stay home until at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications (any medicine that contains ibuprofen or acetaminophen).

You can help keep our schools healthy by adhering to the following guidelines:

  • Continue to enforce proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette - The recommendations continue to emphasize the importance of the basic foundations of disease prevention: stay home when sick, wash hands frequently with soap and water when possible or alcohol based hand sanitizer, and cover noses and mouths with a tissue when coughing or sneezing (or a shirt sleeve or elbow if no tissue is available).
  • Leave accurate information as requested on the school's absence line if your child is sick. This will help the school identify any potential issues as soon as possible.
  • Promptly pick up your child from school if they are sent home for being ill. The school will keep ill students separated from others until they can be sent home. Please make sure that the school office has your updated contact information.
  • Any returning students after an illness with a fever will need to have their temperature taken in the school office before returning to class. Teachers will be sending returning students back to the office to have their temperatures taken if they arrive directly to the classroom without being cleared.
