ENRICHMENT PROGRAM NEEDS YOU!
The After-School Enrichment Program provides fun classes for students
for a small fee. In past years we've offered classes such as Spanish,
Sports, Cooking, Art, Chess, Yoga, Computers, Fishing, Three-Dimensional
Design, and much more. Most classes are one day a week.
Many of our Enrichment teachers are parents who volunteer their time. If you have an interest or skill that you would like to share with children and have time one afternoon each week, please contact Mr. Jones for more information. We hope to begin the Enrichment program in two or three weeks.
-Ms. Angela Hansen, Art Teacher FIRST DIVERSITY COMMITTEE MEETING
The Nimitz Diversity Committee is made up of parents and the principal.
The goal of this committee is to increase our students appreciation and
respect for cultural diversity. We meet approximately once a month in
the morning just after school starts. Our first meeting will be Tuesday,
Sept. 9th, at 8:30 a.m. in the GLC. If you would like to join this
committee or learn more, please come to the meeting.

NIMITZ DAILY SCHEDULE 2008-2009
NIMITZ FAMILY PICNIC
The Nimitz PTA hopes you enjoyed the Family Picnic last week.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Woods and
Mr. Quadro for their singing excellence and to Mr. Warner for
entertaining us with his unicycle skills.
NEWSLETTER BY EMAIL
Parents who have signed up as part of the parent email group
will receive the Dolphin Newsletter by email instead of a paper copy
starting in October. This will help the school save on duplicating costs
and legal-sized blue paper. This email group is used only by the school
and PTA to announce activities on campus. Also, the group will not be
shared with anyone outside of school. It's not too late to sign up.
Please fill out the green form that was included in the first day packet,
return it to your child's teacher and register online by Friday,
September 12th. Additional forms are available in the office.

Please do not drop children off in the coned area nearest the
kindergarten playground.
In order to keep all students safe, we are in need of volunteers to help with traffic control in the mornings from 7:55am-8:05am. Please call the office (408-736-2180) if you are available to help.
Volunteers are trained by Music for Minors on rhythm and movement
activities, songs, dances, classroom management and music theory.
You do not have to be a trained musician. Training is in Cupertino
on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and will begin soon. Call for
information, 650-237-9130.
ENROLLMENT/HEALTH CARDS
Your child's Enrollment/Health Card is coming home today in the
blue folder. Please review and update the card as soon as possible.
Please make changes or additions directly on the card and then sign
and date the bottom of the card. Be sure to include emergency contacts,
so that we have family and friends to contact in the event that you
cannot be reached. It is very important to have these returned as soon
as possible and that you notify the school office immediately if
any changes take place during the school year.
YOU BELONG IN PTA - JOIN NOW!
For more than 110 years, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has been
a powerful voice for children, a resource for parents, and a strong
champion for public education. For over 50 years, Nimitz PTA has worked
for the benefit of the children, teachers and parents of Nimitz School.
September is PTA Membership Month and I ask that you consider joining Nimitz PTA. Your $10 tax-deductible membership fee will be used to support funding for the Nimitz Technology Specialist and the Art Instructor, enrichment activities for students, community building events, books for classrooms, the library, and much more. PTA membership is not just for parents. Grandparents, other relatives and community members are welcome to join. A membership form is included in the PTA packet sent home today in your child's blue folder. Additional membership forms can be found on our website at www.nimitzpta.org. |
PTA members are entitled to vote at public Nimitz PTA meetings and
have opportunities to attend District, State and National PTA events.
Volunteering for PTA events is not a mandatory part of membership,
but we welcome any help that parents can provide. Please watch for
future announcements, emails and flyers about upcoming events and ways
that you can help.
When the PTA gets involved, children benefit. When you get involved with PTA, the child that benefits most is your own. I thank you for your consideration and support. If you have any questions, please contact Debbie Czyzewski, Nimitz PTA Membership Chair, at johnczyz@att.net.
We need parents to help out during lunch (11:45-12:55), Monday
through Friday. If you are available to punch cards or help supervise
students, please email/call Tracy Burriss at
burriss_tracy@cupertino.k12.ca.us
or ph. (408) 732-4563.
DISTRICT NEWS
UPDATING RESIDENCY INFORMATION
Please be aware that district guidelines require that any change of
residence must be reported to the school office within ten (10) days.
This guideline is in place to ensure that the address and contact
information that the school has on file is accurate, since this crucial
information is used to send official school/district correspondence and
in the case of an emergency. Failure to provide current residency information
could result in the immediate withdrawal of your child.
If you have any questions regarding this guideline, please contact your school office. |
