BICYCLE THEFT
Unfortunately, we have had several incidents of bicycle theft from
Nimitz this school year. If your child would like to ride his/her
bike to school, please make sure they have a bicycle lock. Please
remind your child to lock their bike securely in the bike cages.
Also, please do not have your child leave their bike overnight or
during the weekend. Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety requires
all bicycles to be registered. A license can be purchased from any
Fire Station between 5-6pm daily. The fee is $6 for a three-year
license. This will help you recover your bike if it should be stolen.
Over 135 families provided delicious dishes from around the world.
Students sampled traditional American turkey, macaroni and cheese and
pumpkin pie along with sushi, pasta and meat balls, sticky rice and
Mango lassi to name but a few of the epicurean delicacies. The event
was a huge success because of the many parents who helped organize,
set-up and serve students. What a great start to the holiday season!
Special thanks goes to all of the parents who contributed dishes and
served the students, and to the Nimitz Diversity Committee.
HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE
Nimitz collected 432 pounds of non-perishable food items for the
Second Harvest Food Bank's drive. Thank you to our Nimitz community
for your generous contributions.
FAMILY GIVING TREE
In an effort to give back to the community, Nimitz will host a
Family Giving Tree in Room 16. This tree will have tags with gift
requests from needy families in our community. Just pick up a tag
in Room 16, purchase the gift, and bring it back to Room 16
unwrapped with the tag attached. All contributions must be
received by Friday, December 14th at 2:30pm. Thanks in advance for
your generosity.

Cellular phones and pagers must be turned off during the school
day, including recess, passing periods, brunch, and lunch and must
be kept in the student's purse or backpack at all times. Failure
to abide by this policy may result in the cellular phone and/or
pager being confiscated and the loss of cell phone and pager
possession privileges at the discretion of the school administration.
Also, if a student brings their cell phone to school, they run the
risk of it being lost, stolen or damaged.
For every gift card you purchase, Nimitz can earn up to 23%! Gift
cards are available from the following merchants:

Purchase for your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers too!
Complete your orders along with a check payable to Nimitz PTA. Return in your child's blue folder or to the school office by Tuesday, December 4th, 2007. Orders will be available for pickup beginning on December 13th. Need additional forms? Visit http://www.nimitzpta.org/ or go to the school office. Thanks for supporting Nimitz! COPY CENTER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
If you have a few extra minutes, consider helping out the Nimitz
Copy Center. Volunteer times are flexible and only require an
initial half-hour training. Give the teachers more time to teach
our kids! Please contact Lenora Louie at
lenora-pta@fortun8.com or 408-737-7787.
LOST AND FOUND
Our lost and found bags are overflowing with shirts, jackets,
lunchboxes and backpacks. Please remember to check the bags located
near the restrooms. Any unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
We would like to suggest that items the children bring to school be
labeled, so they could be returned in case they are lost and found.
MESSAGES FOR STUDENTS
Please make sure all information between you and your child is
taken care of before school. The school office cannot call into
your child's classroom to give a message during school hours.
If needed, a message will be sent to the teacher; however, there
is no guarantee that the teacher will check their messages until the
end of the school day.
This helps keep our students in shape as they strive to reach their
goal. This program is not possible without parent support.
We need a volunteer to help out during lunch (11:25-12:45), on
Wednesdays. If you are available to punch cards or help supervise
students, please email/call Tracy Burriss at
burriss_tracy@cupertino.k12.ca.us or ph. (408) 732-4563.
The Running Club would not be possible without the help of many parent
volunteers who help keep things moving!
