EARLY DISMISSAL FOR PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
The goal setting conferences will take place October 8th - 16th. Please be prompt in picking up your child at dismissal time (12:25pm).
Children may not remain on the school grounds unsupervised while waiting for a parent to arrive for a conference or during the conference. Students may be included in the conference, if specifically arranged by a teacher.
PARENT CONFERENCES
Please take the time to check your schedule to assure you will be
able to attend at your scheduled time. It is very difficult to
reschedule if you wait until the week of conferences. It is also
important that you show up on time, as teachers have to adhere to a
strict schedule to ensure that they are able to meet with all the
parents in their classroom. Thank you.
NIMITZ CULTURAL FESTIVAL
DVD's from the Nimitz Cultural Festival last May are available in
the office for $10.
HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF THE PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE
The parent-teacher conference is an opportunity to find out what
your child will be learning and how to help your child have a
successful school year. Listed below are some questions to assist
you in making the most of your conference.
|
ATTENDANCE REPORTING
To succeed, your child must attend school every day, and be on time!
If your child will be absent from school for any reason, you must
inform the office by calling our 24-hour attendance line at
736-2180 ext. 6, and leaving a message including the child's
name, room number, and reason for absence. You need to call in
every day that your child is absent. If not, the absence will be
unexcused. Absences must be verified within 48 hours or they will
remain unexcused. Please note that absences due to religious holidays
are excused only if they are recognized as religious holidays by
the school district and are called in to the attendance line. Only
personal illness, medical appointments, religious holidays, or
family bereavement are acceptable excuses.
We want to take this time to remind everyone about helmets and
riding bikes on campus. Wearing a helmet when riding a bicycle is
required by law for anyone under 18 years old. Parents can set a
great example by also wearing a helmet when riding with their children.
It has been announced to our students that before they enter the campus, they must stop, walk their bikes or fold up their scooters. |

on our new social studies curriculum and materials. Our staff appreciates
the time for staff development. It offers the valuable opportunity to
learn new strategies to support student learning.

NIMITZ YAHOO GROUP
For those of you who have filled out the Email Group form, you will
be receiving an invitation to join the new Nimitz Elementary School
Yahoo Group. This group has been created for official announcements from
the school staff and PTA to the Nimitz Elementary School community. It
will also be used for distribution of the Dolphin newsletter via email.
No discussion will be allowed on this list. The list of emails is
run and maintained by Nimitz Elementary School staff. To join, please
follow the simple instructions in the Yahoo invitation email.
The Dolphin Newsletter will be emailed to parents who have signed up beginning with the October 11th issue. In addition, a paper copy of the Dolphin will be sent home with the youngest or only child of each Nimitz family. This will greatly help the school by saving over 15,000 sheets of legal-sized blue paper for the school year! |

home with each child. If you would like to be included in the parent
email group, the forms are available in the office.
