ACE AND ENRICHMENT CLASSES
Our after school programes will begin on Monday, September 10th.
The first session will run for five weeks, concluding on Friday,
October 12th.
We have two programs: ACE, which is for students who need academic support, and Enrichment, which are fun, extracurricular classes. Students must be recommended by their teacher for ACE. Enrichment classes are open to all 1st through 5th grade students. ACE classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. Enrichment classes will be held one day a week on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons. Most Enrichment classes cost $25 for the session, but some classes (i.e. cooking) may include an additional charge for supplies. Sign-Ups for Enrichment will take place next. Watch for the flier coming home after school. We need more Enrichment teachers! If you have an idea for a class and at least one afternoon a week free, please contact Mr. Jones as soon as possible. NOON YARD SUPERVISORS NEEDED
We are in need of noon duty supervisors for our playground
Monday-Friday for an hour and a half from 11:15am -
12:45pm. It is a paid position at $8.15/hr. This is an
opportunity to work with wonderful children, while helping
the school maintain a safe and happy environment. If you are
interested in being a yard duty supervisor, please contact
the office.

SCHOOL PROCEDURES
During the first weeks of school, we spend time with the students
reviewing the rules for safety and good manners that help everyone
feel welcome and safe. This is also a good time for parents to
review procedures that support a safe learning environment.
BLUE FOLDERS
Please review your child's work sent home in the weekly "blue
folder" on Thursdays, sign it and return it every Friday. We have
found this to be one of the best forms of communication between the
classroom teacher and home. Please feel free to write down your
concerns in the folder and the teacher will get back to you with a
response. It is important that you work with your child's teacher
to assure a successful year for you student.

Last year our Nimitz students ran over 13,000 miles!
This program is not possible without parent support.
We need parents to help out during lunch (11:25-12:45)
Monday through Friday. If you are available to punch cards or
help supervise students, please email/call Tracy Burriss at
tcburriss@yahoo.com or
ph. (408) 732-4563. The Running Club would not be possible without
the help of many parent volunteers who help keep things moving!
Parents! You are welcome to join the children on the track for some mid-day exercise. Please check in at the office and get a visitor's pass and then come on out to the track to walk, jog, or run with the children.
To become a docent, you just need to enjoy singing, like working with
children, and be available to teach 1/2 hour per week.
Music for Minors provides extensive training. You will learn everything
to teach music in your child's classroom once a week. This is a rewarding,
fun experience for you while you get to enrich the music education of your
child and their classmates. Please consider stepping forward to
volunteer for this wonderful program. Call Cathy Lampman at 650-851-5252
or Music for Minors at 650-237-9130. More information is also
available at http://www.mfm.org.
Participate in the eScrip program and support the education of our
children every time you shop! eScrip is a hassle-free way for Nimitz
to raise money through everyday purchases made at eScrip merchants such
as Safeway, Pak'n'Save, PW Market, and Whole Foods. Simply register your
Safeway, Pak 'n' Save, PW Market, or Whole Foods grocery club card.
Each time you grocery shop and use your card, eScrip will send us a
percentage of the money you spend. You can also register a credit
and/or debit card, and purchases made at participating merchants will
benefit Nimitz.
