CLASS ASSIGNMENTS FOR 2007-2008
The Nimitz staff has begun planning for the 2007-2008 school year, including initial drafts of class lists. Student placement is done with careful consideration of the following factors:
The teachers and I will work together to make class assignments. Decisions we make with regard to your child's future placement reflect our best judgment as to where individual children will be the most successful. While we do not accept requests for specific teachers, you are welcome and encouraged to share with us any information you feel would be helpful in determining your child's placement. If you are interested in giving us information that will help with the placement of your child, you may pick up a 'Parental Input' form in the office. The last date to submit this form is Friday, May 25th. Class lists will be posted after 5:00 p.m. on August 22nd, the day before school begins. -Dale Jones, Principal ENROLLMENT FOR NEXT YEAR
Please make sure to return the enrollment form being sent home
in this week's blue folder. It is very important that we receive a form from each family regarding your enrollment plans for next year. This allows the school district and our school to determine our enrollment numbers for the next school year. All forms must be returned. If we do not receive this information from your family, we will be contacting you. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

-Ms. Hansen STAR TESTING APRIL 30th - MAY 11th
STAR Multiple Choice Testing will begin the week of April 30, 2007 and continue for two weeks, with make-ups taking place the week of May 15, 2007. The STAR Program is a state accountability measure that helps us assess how we are meeting the needs of our students. You can help prepare your child for the test by ensuring your child goes to bed on time, eats a good breakfast, and leaves for school with a positive attitude. Please do not schedule any family trips or doctor appointments during this time.
NIMITZ 50TH ANNIVERSARY MURAL
All Nimitz students are involved in creating a mural for the GLC wall by making clay sea sculptures for the aquatic scene. If you would like to have a personalized fish sculpture permanently displayed in your name, please make a donation of $50 or more by April 30th. These contributions will be used to help restock our library with new books. Thank you to the many families who have already made generous contributions.
SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL NOMINATIONS
The School Site Council (SSC) is responsible for bringing
together representatives of the school community to assess

an equal number of parent and staff representatives. The SSC

seats are open for a term of two years beginning at the start
of the 2007-08 school year. If you are interested in serving on
the SSC for the next school year, or know of someone you would
like to nominate, please complete the nomination form below.
